This newsletter contains updates from community events, initiatives, and upcoming activities for everyone to get involved in.

BKT URC TROPHY TOUR

The BKT United Rugby Championship trophy has been touring Scotland. Players and staff have traversed Glasgow, Caledonia, and the west of Scotland with the trophy, with many of you getting plenty of photos with the Champions’ silverware.

From Ardrossan to Biggar, Hillhead Jordanhill to Hutcheson's Grammar, the trophy has travelled across the Scottish regions.

FIRST GAME BACK AT SCOTSTOUN

Glasgow Warriors welcomed Benetton in Round 2 of the 2024/25 URC campaign. It was safe to say, the Warriors got off to a flying start at Scotstoun with a 42-10 win over the Italian side.

Our next home game is Zebre Parma. This is the URC’s Unity Round. Glasgow Raptors, Aberdeen Taexali, Caledonian Thebans are LQBTQ+ Inclusive Rugby groups. They will take part in the pre-match Community Rugby Activity and form Guard of Honour.

6 October: Lenzie Rugby Club Mini's Fun Day with a Player Visit.

14-18 October: Glasgow Warriors Skills Camps, 9-1pm every day. Secure your tickets here.

19 October: Trophy Visit to Strathaven Rugby Club

20 November: Trophy Visit to SPEN Champs Finalist Schools, Belmont Academy and Marr College

30 November: GHA Movember Event with the URC Trophy

Glasgow Warriors staff run the Great Scottish Run

On Sunday 6 October, Glasgow Warriors staff will be taking part in the Great Scottish Run to raise money for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

This forms part of the club’s wider Fighting For our Families campaign. The staff are aiming to raise £5,000 from the run to reach an overall target of £85,000 this year.

SP ENERGY NETWORKS COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT WINNER

We’d like to congratulate Campbell Miller from Strathendrick Rugby Club for being our SP Energy Networks Community Spotlight winner for September.

Campbell has played an integral role in developing both the boys’ and girls’ sections at the Strathendrick Rugby club in Stirlingshire and through his dedication, reliability and consistency he had provided the foundation to ensure the growth of the club.

Nominated by Tyler Stevenson, he emphasised Campbell’s dedication to grassroots rugby: “I am very proud and happy to see Campbell recognised with the SP Energy Network Community Spotlight award.

“He has provided so much support to both the boys and girls rugby at the Strathendrick RFC for several years. The mini and midi age groups have benefited immensely from his continued time and support.”

You can get involved by nominating someone you know in the club game in Glasgow, Caledonia, or the west of Scotland. With the chance to win two free tickets to matchday hospitality and deliver our match ball, the community spotlight award is a great opportunity for someone’s commitment to the game to be recognised.

SP Energy Networks Quiet Days

Glasgow Warriors and our Official Community Partner SP Energy Networks will once again deliver Quiet Day Session at Scotstoun Stadium during the 2024/25 season.

These events are for charities, and individuals with additional support needs who are unable to attend busy match days.

The sessions last up to two hours and provide an opportunity for those attending to watch their favourite Glasgow Warriors player’s train, if suitable guests will also receive a tour of the stadium.

Guests get to watch the session from the brilliant vantage point of The Famous Grouse Bothy with its floor to ceiling windows with a capacity of 8 people per session.

The next sessions are taking place on 7 and 25 November 2024.
