This newsletter contains updates from community events, initiatives, and upcoming activities for everyone to get involved in.

Fighting For Our Families

Glasgow Warriors is once again asking rugby clubs across Scotland to join them in raising money for the Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity.

In 2023/24 Ardrossan Accies, Cambuslang, GHK and Strathclyde University Women's Rugby contributed more than £15,000 for the Warriors' Fighting for our Families campaign.

Our annual Plaster It Purple fixture, sponsored by Leidos, will take place on 29 March 2025. All supporters are encouraged to wear purple to this fixture to raise awareness and funds for the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

This season, Glasgow Warriors are aiming to raise a grand total of £85,000 for the children's hospital charity and are calling on clubs, sponsors, and individuals to join this fundraising drive.

What’s been happening

SP Energy Networks Girls’ Development Day

On Wednesday 23 October, SP Energy Networks supported the delivery of the Girls’ Development Day at Scotstoun Stadium.

Eight schools were involved in the event: Coatbridge, Chryston, Dalziel, Biggar, St Thomas Aquinas, Shawlands, Oban, and St Pauls.

The evented provided an opportunity to grow and develop rugby for girls in schools across Glasgow. Each school were given behind the scenes access to the stadium, meet and greet with players and the opportunity to win prizes by participating in STEM activations run by SP Energy Networks.

Women’s Leadership Event

On Monday 4 November, the Scottish Rugby Union hosted a women’s leadership event at Scotstoun Stadium.

The aim of the event was to develop, support, and connect female leaders from Glasgow and the West rugby clubs with the wider business and sporting communities.

Attendees engaged in a series of presentations and discussions to share best practice in the sport and enhance leadership skills.

Our first evening saw 50 Women participate and create valuable connections.

Warriors return for Round 7 of the URC

Glasgow Warriors is excited to welcome supporters back to Scotstoun on Friday 29 November after a break in club rugby for the Autumn Nations Series. Glasgow face Welsh side Scarlets in Round 7 of the United Rugby Championship.

There will also be a community activation of mixed ability rugby hosted on the back pitches.

All six clans—Ayrshire, Strathmore, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Borders and Fife—from across Scotland are invited to participate in the pre-match SP Energy Networks community rugby and form our Guard of Honour. The clans will also be invited to take part in half time fixture.

KubeNet Girls Mini Fest

Taking place on Saturday 23 November, ten clubs will be taking part in the mini-festival supported by KubeNet.

The girls-only minifestival is to provide opportunity to grassroots clubs to develop their skills and exposure to more game time. The festival also gives the ten clubs and their players the opportunity to play at Scotstoun Stadium.

Food bank collection

Glasgow Warriors and SP Energy Networks team up to engage with our networks to collect food bank donations at our game against Sale Sharks on 7 December.

This is to help our local foodbank at Heart of Scotstoun. Supporters will be encouraged to bring donations to the stadium where we will collect at our designated drop location at the main reception. Look out for our SP Energy Networks Community Van on the night.

SP Energy Networks Coaching and Leadership programme

We are looking for women who are keen to gain their coaching qualifications alongside growing their leadership skills as we launch our second year of this programme. The dates for this programme are as follows:

Session 1: Monday 20 January

Session 2: Monday 17 February

Session 3: Monday 24 March

Session 4: Monday 21 April

Community Spotlight Winner for October

Glasgow Warriors are delighted to announce that Heather Bonner of Kirkcaldy Rugby Club has been selected as SP Energy Networks Community Spotlight winner for October.

Heather has organised disability events at the club and supports primary schools, local charities and partners to run events. She also volunteers at a local community centre, supporting families struggling with cost of living. Heather’s volunteering efforts extend beyond Kirkcaldy Rugby Club and certainly do not go unnoticed.

Heather was nominated by Stuart Oliver. He said: ‘The club is delighted that Heather has been recognised for all her great work within the club and local community.

‘She is always putting others first and is just such an inspiration to everyone in the way she takes jobs and roles on, making the club such a positive place. She never wants any thanks for the work she does, and it is fitting that this can be recognised.’

As part of her recognition, Heather will receive two matchday hospitality tickets to our next home game against the Scarlets on Friday 29 November. She will also be delivering the match ball.

1872 Cup at Hampden Park

On 22 December, Glasgow Warriors will be making history once again when they take on Edinburgh Rugby in the first leg of the 1872 Cup.
